Dimensions

 

 

"so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God" (Ephesians 3:17-19)

 

Notice how many space dimensions Paul describes God as having. Count them, there are 4! Width, length, height and depth. We are only 3 dimension beings, living in a 3 dimensional world. Try to draw a 4 dimensional cube. The 4th line will be never ending! How many dimensions did it take for Jesus to walk through the wall after His resurrection? Perhaps He has 40 dimensions, or 400.

 

So what is the point? This is just one reminder how "other" God is than we are. When we are in a struggle, we need to remember that God has capabilities beyond what humans possess. When we are in His service, we need to remember that His ways are beyond our ways.

 

He is the Being that said, "Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear" (Isaiah 65:24).

 

How many time dimensions does it take to do that?

 

Also, notice that these 4 dimensions describe not only God, but His love. The Amplified version of Ephesians 3:19 says that we can even EXPERIENCE this boundless love. It reads, "That you may really come to know, practically, through experience for yourselves, the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge (without experience); that you may be filled (through all your being) unto all the fullness of God, (that is) may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself!"
